What can I do the fix this. Newbie here. Bob
Hi Bob,
Did you upgrade or perform a fresh install? Is this a 64-bit system? Have you tried to Google 'opensuse and gnome 3 and screensaver preferences' to locate others having the same issue (possibly locating a 'solved' thread in the process?) Have you confirmed all updates / patches are current?
Sorry for the lack of info. Fresh install and 32 bit, version 12.1 All updates and patches are current. Did not Google what you suggested as I'm a bit timid of trying things in Google and Suse since I'm a newbie. May have to change that .
The reason I ask these questions is you haven't provided any background on the system or steps that you've already taken to resolve the problem. As a self-described "newbie" these are basic kinds of things you provide to the list when asking questions.
hth& regards,
Carl
Tried to install the screensavers by clicking the desktop icon (Gnome) and got the error message :
Details: Failed to execute child process"gnome-screensavers- preferences" (No such filer or directory)
Didn't try anything else after that cause I really don't know what it means or what to try. Rather back off and ask than mess
