Hi Jerry and thanks for the kind reply.
I was just looking at permissions: Make sure that your mount point is set to read/execute by others, drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 48 2003-05-02 09:43 dvd
Mine is as follows: linux:~ # ls -l /dev/dvd lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 Jul 27 17:52 /dev/dvd -> hdc linux:~ # ls -l /dev/hdc brw-rw---- 1 root cdrecording 22, 0 Mar 14 14:07 /dev/hdc
The device special file is set to: brw------- 1 xxx disk 22, 0 2003-03-14 08:07 hdc I noticed that it is set to be owned by the use upon login to kde. But, after sshing to the system as another user, I was still able to mount the dvd.
Ok.
It did appear that your settings in the fstab were ok. Here are my settings, which are SuSE 8.2 out of the box. /dev/dvd /media/dvd auto ro,noauto,user,exec
/dev/dvd /media/dvd auto ro,noauto,user,exec 0 0 After having looked on my settings, what do you then say Jerry ??. ---- Med venlig hilsen - Best regards. Erik Jakobsen - eja@urbakken.dk.
