Can you try adding "-no-kvm" ? (I'm not sure if your build supports it, but anyway)... This will disable KVM, and run Qemu emulator.
qemu-kvm: invalid option -- '-no-kvm'
It means that your build doesn't support it. OK - this is standard on openSUSE. (let's try to avoid building from source for now)
Alternatively, can you try the similar command, but using "qemu" instead of "qemu-kvm" ? (this will require to install qemu first)
That said "please load a 32bit OS"....
Let's try replace "qemu" with "qemu-system-x86_x64" It should be in "/usr/bin"
sort of progress... it hung at "Setting Up Windows", but never gave the screen suggesting I hit <ENTER> to proceed with the installation. Going back to CTRL-ALT-F7, I found: $ sudo /usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64 -cdrom cd.iso -hda win64-xp.img -boot d -m 512 Could not open '/dev/kqemu' - QEMU acceleration layer not activated: No such file or directory ^C Next idea? Thanks for helping with this. Much appreciated.
