Actually....No. I tried that first (shoulda mentioned that ) and nada. Even though I selected "Boot from ATAPI CDROM" it went to the normal LILO and ignored the Suse boot cd.
I should say this: It's a Sony VAIO PCG 731 notebook, 200Mhz 96MB Ram, 20 GB hard drive with windows 98 in its own partition and Suse 8, barely chugging along (it's a machine for training my friend).
