I am attempting to find a Linux replacement for the video chats that I do with MSN live messenger. So far it looks like Kopete is the more advanced Linux IM. With some work I was able to get the webcam working on my SuSE 11/KDE4 setup but I have not gotten Kopete to work with the camera.
I can run gideo and see the webcam picture. I close gideo but see that 3 processes are still running gconfg-2 pulseaudio gconf-helper I open Kopete but it doesn't show any camera device. Now after running Kopete, gideo doesn't work at all. I killed the three processes and gideo works again.
If I kill the three processes or reboot, Kopete shows the webcam device but it still doesn't work. There is no picture. The first two fields show the camera but the "standard" field is blank.
Hi Damon I'll roll some kde packages with debugging enabled in my buildservice home repo so that we can get some console output from Kopete when it tries to open the webcam device. The other kopete+webcam query from 'J Beris' can also use these for troubleshooting. 1) Can you tell us the make/model of webcam? 2) Have you tried Kopete from KDE 3? regards Will -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
