When running apt-get, I get the message that the gaim and amarok packages are being held back. I don't see anything in my apt.conf file where this was specified. I want to update these package, so what should I be checking to remedy this?
What errors are you getting exactly? Gaim can't really be installed unless you have the dvd: linux:~ # apt -s install gaim Reading Package Lists... Done Building Dependency Tree... Done The following packages have unmet dependencies: gaim: Depends: libgnutls.so.10 but it is not installable Depends: libgnutls.so.10(GNUTLS_REL_1_0) but it is not installable E: Broken packages http://www.suse.com/us/private/products/suse_linux/prof/packages_professiona... It's strange gnutls is not available via the gnome apt component (SUSE 9.1 supplementary gnome directory) as gnutls is not provided on the CDs. Just for the record I have gnome-2.6 installed There are no problems installing amarok: # apt install amarok Reading Package Lists... Done Building Dependency Tree... Done The following extra packages will be installed: sqlite The following NEW packages will be installed: amarok sqlite 0 upgraded, 2 newly installed, 0 removed and 0 not upgraded. Need to get 1149kB/1312kB of archives. After unpacking 2777kB of additional disk space will be used. -- Richard Bos Without a home the journey is endless
