a recently bought DVD ( from Heise Verlag) with approx 8GB is mounted with UDF fs : ...UDF-fs INFO UDF: Mounting volume 'nameofdvd', timestamp 2012/12/06 12:24 (1078)
The problem appears when reading the disc - it takes ages to e.g. make a md5sum list of all files on this DVD (on a quite fast machine with 4 core CPU).
Is there a way to speed up a UDF mount on a SuSE 12.1 system ?
Rip the DVD to an image (e.g. with k3b or ddrescue if CSS is irrelevant).
Or some kind of cached reading which makes the whole process faster?
A DVD just IS slow (~4-5 MB/s), esp. on random reads. -dnh -- WANTED: Schroedingers Cat, dead or alive. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
