How can I play mpg in SuSE 8. If I tries to start a mpg file, no movie is started, do I have to set up Konqueror to start it or what. I use Xine to see my dvd, but there must be a way that SuSE can so it, since they have left Xine out this time.

There are lots of ways to play videos files in Linux. Xine and MPLayer are two worth looking at - both have some excellent strengths, and a few minor weaknesses. MPlayer (for most people) tends to be easier to setup and install, and supports pretty much every video codec except Sorenson Quicktime. The default media player for KDE - noatun can play some videos, but seems limited to the basic codecs... at least on my system. I have never bothered to try and make it work with DivX5 when MPlayer supports it so well. C.
