Well still on it... ;-) Keep with it ;o)
funky@linux:~> ls -ls ~/.kde/share/config/kmailrc 8 -rw------- 1 funky users 6644 2003-01-01 17:22 /home/funky/.kde/share/config/kmailrc That looks fine...
I have tried what Jon said many thanks..:-> but still can't get kmail to run under this particular account 'funky'. Hmm. How about your actual ~/Mail dir. Try renaming it with: mv ~/Mail ~/MailBackup
See if KMail starts up. If it does, then the problem may well be there.
This app works ok under the new account ??? Which means it should theoretically be limited to a problem in the /home/funky/ directory tree somewhere.
Can I do a diff on two directories & files at the same time for file permissions, owners, filesizes, dates etc... to get to the bottom of this problem? You can do:
ls -ls directory1 >~/01 ls -ls directory2 >~/02 diff ~/01 ~/02 Should show differences [I am open to corrections here as I am not used to using diff, but somewhere in the dark recessess of my mind it is there ;o)] *fingers crossed*
