The problem is that if you un-install the RPM (rpm -e MPlayer --nodeps). and compile and install from source, YaST2 will complain that you have an un-fulfilled dependency.
I have a hard time believing that anything else would depend on MPlayer. If something really has listed a dependency on it, I would say that the package maintainer has made a mistake. (Unless you are talking about the plugin that makes mozilla embed movies with MPlayer.) Regards Ole
