-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 <start of rant> I can't believe how disfunctional RH 8.0 is. I know that some may use it but the more I try other distros the more I come back to SuSE. My problem is that I have a tgz file and none of the commands to anything. I have tried zcat <various options> winetools-0.2.2.tgz and gzip <options> and gunzip. Also have tried tar <various options> and also all of these with various pipes "|" such as zcat winetools-0.2.2.tgz | wc -c etc .., etc.., I find RH lacking to say the least. The include wine but no means to config it, and no help files for it other then those included in wine. They say you can click on an executable to run a program in wine while in Gnome ---- Ya right! That gives the message the C drive not found, D drive not found, etc.. Uhhh..... this is probably because the wine.conf file is EMPTY (geez, how brainless can you get). The default Bluecurve is a bust... a poor attempt at a unified gui environment !!!!! <end of freaking rant> So, does anyone know how to get RH 8.0 to deal with a tgz file format or do I look forward to dropping in and configuring a host of "workable" versions to replace RH's version in order to do any work with this apparent broken system? (I'm hoping Gentoo is better - presently trying various distros in order to write a review.... no wonder so many say Linux isn't ready, they ain't using SuSE and the others are half measured AFAICT).
