[opensuse-support] MC cannot read TW rpms any more
TW's rpms are no longer readable by MC. How can I get any binaries or all content out of a TW rpm into the current directory? Is there some config option available to enable MC to read/extract them? -- Evolution as taught in public schools, like religion, is based on faith, not on science. Team OS/2 ** Reg. TW changed rpm compression method to zstd recently. I was trying to use 15.1's mc 4.8.22 to read TW's memtest86+ rpm. Problem is now solved by installing BS's 4.8.25 to 15.1. -- Evolution as taught in public schools, like religion, is based on faith, not on science. Team OS/2 ** Reg. I know that the system can work directly with rpm files, but I'm not sure how. To go back to basics, you can unzip the rpm format like so: rpm -Uvh filename.rpm You'll need admin privileges to to that. --doug -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-support+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-support+owner@opensuse.org

That would install the rpm, which is not what he intended. For local installing (i.e., in the currect directory) you'd have to do something like rpm2cpio <rpmfile> | cpio -id <pattern> But that won't help either if rpm2cpio (from rpm package) doesn't support the compression used to generate the rmp.... -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-support+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-support+owner@opensuse.org
