As you may observe from my latest messages, the Epson printer is now working, but the scanner is not, and has not. I need it to work, of course. (It works on an old PCLOS laptop.) And I need the HP LaserJet to work also, but one thing at a time. --doug

In former (TM) days I used to juggle areound with xsane and Epson GT5000 Scanners...in between mist scanners have network interfaces. So I have a SMB share on my local server where the scanner immediately writes the scanned document into. Much more convenient than working with a scanner program.
You may want to check if this is an option

Yes, everything is on the LAN. Each printer has its own fixed ip address. I would like to assign a fixed ip to the two desktop computers, but that's a job for another time, when everything else is working! Someplace in my files I should have the commands to do that--I hope! --doug
