Certainly. Basically, you have several different machines that happen to have the same USB cable or the same Ethernet cable. Same address, different port. In former (TM) days I used to juggle areound with xsane and Epson GT5000 Scanners...in between mist scanners have network interfaces. So I have a SMB share on my local server where the scanner immediately writes the scanned document into. Much more convenient than working with a scanner program. Yes, everything is on the LAN. Each printer has its own fixed ip address. I would like to assign a fixed ip to the two desktop computers, but that's a job for another time, when everything else is working!
