In the last eight years in which I worked in the adminstration area (Network, Unix servers and little but partly heavy programming) a pattern showed up in my eyes: There are lots of people not doing the work you do and mostly not even really knowing what you do who fell a holly task to tell you /how/ you have to do it and what you have to look at. Just use your sane mind and act accordingly and you are on the right way; what certainly doesn't mean to not listen for the needs of the people who use the devices you adminster. *You* are the specialist. Even if the other person studied computer science and has a doctor's degree /you/ are the man who works on the actual problem. /You/ know /best/ what to do. Others might be helpfull or serve you with knowledge you don't have. But /you/ are the one who...
