statusreport ASUS pundit2 AM2-690G (RS690)
Hi! Just like to provide a status update of Asus Pundit AM2-690G onboard graphic card 0x791E:0x1043:0x8287 reported as X1250 RS690. The board has one VGA plus one HDMI connector on the PCB. 1.) radeonhd (todays git) works fine with VGA on my LG L2000CE TFT (so no xorg.log attached). 2.) On a Sony Bravia 720p Panel (native resolution 1366 x 768) it basically works but cuts off a few pixels left and right (i guess its cutted down to 1280, xorg.log attached). 3.) Obviously HDMI refuses to work completely since the whole RS690 doc is still missing as Luc pointed out a few days ago. I've attached the xorg log for the bravia over VGA and conntests with connected vga and another with htmi. txs and br, strub __________________________________ Ihr erstes Baby? The monitor only reports 1280x768. Let me provide you with some especially tailored xorg.conf stuff to work around this. Add the following monitor section: Section "Monitor" Identifier "bravia" HorizSync 30-50 VertRefresh 58-62 Option "ReducedBlanking" "True" Option "NoDDC" "True" EndSection Add the following line to the "Device" section for the radeonhd driver: Option "UseConfiguredMonitor" "True" In the Screen section, reference your monitor: Monitor "bravia" Provide only the following mode in the "Display" subsection for your bitdepth: Modes "1366x768R" This will hopefully have the driver: * Ignore ddc and use only the configured monitor. * Autogenerate an exact 1366x768 mode (not 1360 or 1368) with reduced blanking. (There is no other driver out there which will do this btw). * And this mode should survive all modevalidation thanks to the provided monitor timing. If your monitor allows this mode through its VGA input, then this will work. Luc Verhaegen. Hi! I've the same setup here. Pundit with RS690 and a Sony Bravia Panel. Due the manual of the Bravia the highest resolution using the VGA-Input is 1280x768. to get the full resolution of 1366x768 you have to connect your pundit with an HDMI-cable, but i don't know if the radeonhd supports the output through the hdmi-connector. Please try with the provided config anyway. About HDMI; yes, known issue. Luc Verhaegen. SUSE/Novell X Driver Developer. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: radeonhd+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: radeonhd+help@opensuse.org
Hi folks!
Sorry for the late reply but bravia seems a bit beastly.
I took the xorg.conf as providd by Luc but the monitor could still not be detected (log says vsync
out of range). I then tuned the vsync and hsync as long as the log tells me that 1280x768 is
covered, but radeonhd still took the detected 1360x768 (which cuts off the left border of my X).
With HDMI i obviously got no result at all.
I also tested the system with the latest fglrx and got the following results:
I was able to connect via VGA with up to 1024x768 but not higher (not even 1280x768!).
With HDMI attached, I only could setup 720p (1280x720 which lefts out a large spare black border).
txs,

Hey Mark
Are you using the lastest firmware for you board? I was having major
issues until I did this (with the fglrx drivers)
Radeonhd then worked fine using vga

Hi I've got an RS690 chip with pci id 0x791E. It is onboard vga shipped with Asus M2A-VM motherboard. By using radeonhd driver I also got VSync problems. And I found that for RS690 we should not write ZERO to the register D1CRTC_V_SYNC_A, otherwise the screen will blank off on VT switching. We can safely write non-zero Values to D1CRTC_V_SYNC_A but never ZERO. Anyway, this works for my chip. I don't know if will apply to yours. thanks.

Did you add Option "NoRandR" "True" to your device section? This because what i described only applies to my modesetting code, not to whatever limitations RandR thinks it should apply.
