I've checked and I do have the package installed (SUNWxorg-headers, version 6.8), so I'm not sure why make can't detect them. I had trouble with getting ./configure to work before, as it couldn't detect the Xorg server files in my Solaris installation - the PKG_CONFIG_PATH variable was pointing to the wrong directories, and the xorg-server.pc file was either non-existent or pointing to the wrong directory (I can't remember which). Do I need to edit the PATH variable to point to the header files? I had to do so as some of the programs (like make and gcc) are installed in non-standard locations (at least compared to Linux). Folks, What is the meaning of the RV515_MC_STATUS:MC_IDLE bit? The RV515/516 spec says it "Indicates that there are no pending or in-process requests in the MC." There is code in RHDMCSetup() and RHDRestoreMC() that does the following: ASSERT((RHDRegRead(rhdPtr, D1VGA_CONTROL) & D1VGA_MODE_ENABLE) != D1VGA_MODE_ENABLE); ASSERT((RHDRegRead(rhdPtr, D2VGA_CONTROL) & D2VGA_MODE_ENABLE) != D2VGA_MODE_ENABLE); ASSERT((RHDRegRead(rhdPtr, D1CRTC_CONTROL) & 0x1) != 0x1); ASSERT((RHDRegRead(rhdPtr, D2CRTC_CONTROL) & 0x1) != 0x1); ASSERT(RHDMCIdle(rhdPtr, 1)); I am getting infrequent failures in the last assertion, indicating that the MC is not idle. I verified that both the VGA anc CRTC controllers are indeed disabled, Yet the MC_IDLE bit is still wiggling. I wrote a little piece of code that reads it in a tight loop and indeed it comes on every 10-20 reads and then immediately goes off. So if the CRTC and VGA controllers are not reading the memory, why is the MC not idle? Could it be that even if the screen is not being refreshed, the dynamic RAM still needs to be refreshed to keep it from losing its contents? If this is the case, I think that this code is flawed. It shouldn't assume that the MC is idle when the CRTC and VGA controllers are disabled. Thanks for any insight into this. AtomBIOS function to turn off Radeon

Hi list, i have a somewhat silly question: Probably you heard about the "switchable graphics" built into some modern notebooks. Right now, switching while working is only supported under Vista. For Linux, users had to select the graphic card in the BIOS. Lenovo e.g. offers three options there: Integrated - (Intel on, ATI off) , Discrete - (Intel off, ATI on) and Switchable - (Intel on, ATI on, screen "connected" to Intel). I have a new Acer Timeline notebook with switchable graphics, but here "Integrated" in the BIOS is missing. If i set my BIOS to "switchable", the notebook consumes about 20W of power. If i set it to "Discrete", RadeonHD or fglrx enter power saving and i get about 10W. Under Vista running on intel it goes down to 7W. My guess is: When i switch to "Switchable", the ATI chipset is running (at full power as no driver starts the saving-mode). The Vista driver then turns ATI off (when using Intel, of course). Could i set it via AtomBIOS to an "off"-state? I found ATOM_PM_OFF in atombios.h, could this be helpful? Cannot compile radeonhd 1.2.5 on Solaris 10 8/07

Hello, I have an installation of Solaris 10 8/07 and have been trying to compile radeonhd 1.2.5 on it, without success. When I execute make, it quits with several errors and warning messages whose meaning I am not sure of. I have a Radeon Xpress 1250 IGP on a Samsung R20 laptop, and the driver is compatible with my laptop (I had an installation of Slackware in which the same driver compiled and worked successfully), so it may be a problem with my installation of Solaris. Checking -- Does Anyone Have an RS690M card working with the current driver??

Listmates, I wanted to check if anyone else has been able to run the RS690M (x1200) card with the current driver built from the git repository. For over 2 months my box has been dead in the water. If somebody else has one running, please let me know what you are doing to compile it and I'd like to compare Xorg.0.log files as well. Matthias, Egbert, Yang, and the rest, I don't know what the issue is, but hopefully the log I provided tonight might provide a clue. Also, if you can think of any other compiler flags, etc. I might try, let me know. Currently, I'm still using what I have always used: git pull ./configure --prefix=/usr make CFLAGS=-O0 sudo make install (reboot or restart X) And the driver is dead as a doornail for me and has been since July. RS690M - radeonhd driver still fails after building from git

Matthias, All, I pulled the latest updates from the git repository tonight to test whether it would now work with my laptop again. No joy :-( Same issue. The display acts like it is completely unpowered after kdm start. I have collected a new log file for your review (attached). Hopefully it will provide some insight.
