ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 and OpenSUSE 11.2 with radeonhd: experiencing difficulties

Hello there, after a good experience with 10.3 I've just installed OpenSuse 11.2 on my laptop equipped with a Mobility Radeon X1600. System came up with the "radeonhd" driver installed as default. 2D works quite well but I have some problems with 3D (that I didn't have on 10.3 + ATI proprietary driver) even if the driver should support my graphic card. - OpenGL based game "Nexuiz" hangs just before showing the first 3d scene, even if I deactivate almost every graphic options; - SuperTuxRacer hangs after some seconds of playing - also glxgears hung once (not always) - Blender, 3D modeling tool, also based on OpenGL, shows bad colors in the interface (menus, toolbar); I'm available for some test, with your help, to understand if there is some way to improve situation. For example I tried to understand how to change some OpenGL option (as I saw on the mailing list in other cases), but the Xorg.conf file doesn't exist anymore in 11.2. Also the Sax2 module doesn't seem to give much help: the only changeable option is "resolution". no compositing (gnome/kwin) with FireGL v5200

Hello, I'm quite sure I did some mistake in the configuration, so before to open a bug I'd be really glad if someone can help me to troubleshoot my issue. I've an ATI mobility Firegl v5200 (lenovo T60p) I pastebin some info at http://pastebin.com/m40597c37 I've first moved from using the fglrx to radeonhd 1.2.4, as I was quite happy with it (just really slow), I've upgraded to the last versions of radeonhd (from mesa 7.7.2) and kernel 2.6.32 2D works perfectly, 3D works with OpenGL applications (I tried glxgears), but not the compositing with Gnome and/or kwin (AIGLX, glx, dri and composite are enabled). Do you kindly have any hint to find out where is the problem? I'm running opensuse 11.2 (with latest x11 from http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/XOrg/openSUSE_11.2/) and can't get DRI to work. Driver says that dri is enabled, but 3d-acceleration or video overlays are not working. Is there more exprimental opensuse 11.2 driver to test? I can't use DRI with radeonhd 1.3.0, xorg-server 1.7.3, mesa 7.6.1_rc2. Xorg.0.log says: "(WW) RADEONHD(0): [agp] AGP not available (EE) RADEONHD(0): [agp] AGP failed to initialize. Disabling the DRI. (EE) RADEONHD(0): [agp] You may want to make sure the agpgart kernel module is loaded before the radeon kernel module" I`m 100% sure about agpgart module. dmesg | tail: "mtrr: no MTRR for e8000000,8000000 found" glxinfo says about Software Rasterizer. latest git will not build on Arch Linux -- help?? Working on RS690M Blackscreen issue...

Matthias, all, I was going to continue trying to figure out why the radeonhd driver blackscreens on my Toshiba laptop with RS690M card so I pulled the latest git tonight to a fresh directory. I also used the advise of using the _b build directory to preserve the source.
