Hi all,
Thanks to the work by LCP and guoyunhe we now have a news site that is a) looking modern and b) making contributions much easier! [1]
The site has moved from being a Wordpress application to a Jekyll static site developed directly on Github. So now you can publish articles by sending pull requests to the openSUSE/news-o-o repository. There is also a brief introduction to the process available. [2]
If feel like you want to contribute some written words but don't know where to start we have list of topics to pick from. [3] Or you could even poke someone else to write some article. ;-)
Cheers, vinz.

Cool! Thanks to everyone involved with that.
And my the contributions flow. :-)
One question: https://www.opensuse.org has a menu item "NEWS", which does not appear to connect to that (but brings me to an empty section with just one icon).

That reminds me I was asked by 2 people whose terms ended recently (Richard and Ludwig) to actually tackle this over a year ago, I might now. That actually means I have to finish software-o-o#667 [1], and gather the cool things I have been noodling at for the past few years to revamp www-o-o.
Please keep in mind to make this 100 percent deliverable though, we have to have a replacement for the account system, because of openid integrated into opensuse.org (or we would need to do a redirect for some parts of the site to provo proxy, which just gets messy and who needs that when we can have everything in nbg), so I have also been working on getting that deployed. This also means, we might need help from SUSE and RH on getting RH's double account integration from their bugzilla on SUSE's instance, so expect a more official email about figuring out some official communication on that front in (hopefully) near future.
"UnProvo-ing" (read improving) the infra turns out to be a fun challenge though ;)

In the meantime, could we just hide the comments section on www-o-o and just change the menu link to point to news-o-o? Or place some link below the news section's icon?
vinz.

This should do it, if it doesn't then we have an issue with the nginx config not doing cors properly (easy to fix, I will just have to look the config up to make sure though).

From the looks of the following screenshot it should likely force the light theme to work correctly by default I get the dark version and most of the landing page is unreadable.

There are some issues with the dark theme chameleon, most of that I can't change, but I fixed what I did, and at least the text on the cards will be white
