openSUSE - Only the Best!
I read through the openSUSE:Slogan page, and while there's some good attempts, a number of them might require a little bit more work. If one insists on having a slogan, let me try to offer some ideas about the language which might be useful:
Do not rehash clichés. ("Don't worry, be happy.") This also implies not imitating existing slogans with minute differences.
Anything with more than 10 syllables probably can be scrapped right away, anything with more than 5 words is dangerous as well.
Rhymes are out as well.
The cadences must work and flow.
It needs to be witty and contain some slightly unexpected twist, but still be accessible to everyone cross-culture.
Several exclamation marks are still the sign of a sick mind, and I'd argue that any exclamation mark is a bad idea.
Don't use something which has to _explicitly_ state one of the properties of openSUSE ("Free by design!") or is overly blunt, it creates but a mockery.
Kick out anything which doesn't resonate with the openSUSE image and target audience.
Reading through the slogans proposed, the properties associated with openSUSE are openness, freedom, community, technology, engineering, collaboration, green, high quality, innovation etc. It's hard to reflect them all, so one has to pick a few and allude to them.
Of course, craftmanship isn't everything. After that, it boils down to a matter of taste. And style is obvious when you read it, but really hard work when you try to produce it ;-)

I hope this is helpful to some -
