Dmitry, Supercomputers use sles,or better said some flavour,... and I should know, I worked in one centre, we do not really use sles precompiled apps. sled I have to admit I do not know anyone using, all people I know use opensuse. Now I do not want to be bad... but usually when sled is generated it is very close to one of the opensuse versions... they can take whatever packages they want at that moment and after maintain the updates. I suggest you to start a thread with packages that need love on mailing list. Periodically publish the status and ask for help... I am sure more people would jump and help in this way. Hi Dmitry,
K12 high school...
Maintaining for sles/sled I am not very happy with that... I would prefer to concentrate only on opensuse current and future... maybe cause I am in a good mood maybe current-1...
Yes, SLE support is a problem due to old versions of rpm and rpm macros collection. But SLE is usually used in workstations and supercomputers.
Human power is limited and I really do not see to many volunteers to support more than 1 maybe two versions they do not use.
Some time ago we wanted to have a responsible for each branch of science... unfortunately the plan did not work very well... but slowly the science repo grew.
Great job of solving things between education and science I do not know how you did it but congrats.
I used OBS :-) There is long list of problematic packages in science projects, so work, work and work.
