I thought neither numpy or scipy worked with 3.x[0].

Both scipy and numpy works well with python 3, we use it in develompent for solar physics data processing tasks. http://docs.scipy.org/doc/scipy-0.10.0/reference/release.0.10.0.html
This release requires Python 2.4-2.7 or 3.1- and NumPy 1.5 or greater.
