[07-19-03 10:57]: [snip ... various parts ...] 2. Under SuSE Linux 8.0 Yast2 tells me: there is no SCSI-Scanner and cdrecord -- scanbus shows no scsi-Card (it only shows the scsi - emulation of my dvd and cd- burner). On the left side Yast2 tells me at last: You have to install the scsi-Scanner manually.... and that i have to choose the scanner from the list ..... but there is no list with scanners or scsi-Cards....
This is at last the same message that i got while using the AdvanSys ABP 925. What have i to do, to install a scsi-card manually? (sorry, if it is maybe a stupid question, but i didn't find a manual to this problem).
As root run 'hwinfo --storage-ctrl' and post the results.
You should get something similar to:
18: PCI 09.0: 0100 SCSI storage controller
IRQ: 9 (9308683 events) Driver Info #0: Driver Status: aic7xxx is active Driver Activation Cmd: "insmod aic7xxx"
Thank you very much! I post the whole reaction of the command, although i know, the relevant part may be at 21 (cause i don't know, if there are conflicts by the other devices).
# hwinfo --storage_ctrl
21: PCI 0c.0: 0100 SCSI storage controller
Driver Info #0: Driver Status: fdomain is not active Driver Activation Cmd: "insmod fdomain"
21: the relevant part (or am i wrong? - there is no reference to 'Adaptec') I have seen some articles with Adaptec and fdomain or Future Domain (but SuSE 7.2) - but no solution to my problem.
[top posting corrected, full quote trimmed ...]
From the line on 'Driver Status', it appears that the driver is ?_not active_?. I would search suse's sdb and google for the correct linux driver for the Adaptec 2920 card (?Future Domain?) and, if wrong, install the correct driver.
If you find that the driver is correct, then you need to search for information on how to make the driver _active_. Appears that linux sees the card but is not using it, therefore you cannot see a scanner, or anything else you might hang off that card. You might post in suse-linux-e and see if anyone else is using that card and what driver they use and/or how to make it active. Please post your results, gud luk, -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org
