With all the noteworthy suggestions about campaigns built around a
chameleon changing color, wouldn't that run afoul of the official restrictions displaying the openSUSE geeko?
I recently read this which seems to me if strictly followed frowns on such shenanigans...

We're not talking about color changing the logo itself though - just a related chameleon character.

One thing is official logo that is strictly defined. http://en.opensuse.org/images/0/0e/Opensuse-spacing-preview.png
The other thing is what we can do to create derivatives. All derivatives are not openSUSE logos, just artistic play on the logo subject.
Under "improper logo use": http://en.opensuse.org/File:Opensuse-donts-preview.png you can see examples of logos that are similar to official, but can't be considered as official.
BTW, even the logo on http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Artwork_brand is not really official :)
oh, God, I always thought this was official. :-(
