What are your thoughts on replying or posting non-English tweets? I mean people having access and who can respond to those tweets. It might be cool to see @openSUSE engaging in हिंदी or Bahasa Indonesia, or other languages from time to time, if we have more volunteers.
I hope all is well. Many social media sights seem to be translating posts into the viewers local language. That being stated, the tools don't always translate perfectly. Here are the thoughts on posting non-English. We need to figure out a balance between posting in English as the majority of posts with the occasional non-English post. I think doing posts in different languages is good as it does represent the project. I would say a 2-1 ratio might be good. For every post done in a different language, two posts in English would be good. Maybe even a 1-for-1. That's just my view and I would certainly like to hear a different point of view if anyone wants to chime in. As for replying to a non-English tweet, if we can reply in the non-English language, we should do so. We don't want to take away from the local community accounts as they should be the primary. Maybe tagging the local community accounts in replies would help reinforce that idea. v/r Doug
