Quote: Herman, there is an "users guide" how to set up scim. I used this but I also have generated a ./gnomerc file as described. Please look at and follow https://wiki.ubuntu.com/InputMethods/SCIM/CJK_Chinese_Japanese_Korean_Input_... and look at the part where the ./gnomerc setup is described: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/InputMethods/SCIM/Setup Here what I have in my .gnomerc file: export XMODIFIERS="@im=SCIM" export XIM_PROGRAM=/usr/bin/scim -d export GTK_IM_MODULE=scim export QT_IM_MODULE=scim And now it is working. Ulrich *end quote* Thank you Ulrich, I created the ~/.gnomerc file. The funny thing is, a lot of Scim-input methods simply do work by default. All I had to do was to install the appropriate packages. I think that all my files are fine as far as I could judge by the manual. It's just the scim-m17n part that still doesn't work. Would there be anything special about scim-m17n that has to be configured? regards, Herman
