[opensuse-kde] KDE failed to start after upgrade to 12.1
Hello. After upgrading from openSuSE 11.3 to 12.1, I have problems, launching KDE. KDM appears well, I enter the password and in a few seconds kde crashes. The log of the crash follows. I tried both openSuSE embeded KDE version and one gained from http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Release:/48/openSUSE_12.1/. Check if there's something funky about the session chosen at KDM. Iirc the sessions were renamed at some point. And maybe try if it works for a new user. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Check if there's something funky about the session chosen at KDM. Iirc the sessions were renamed at some point. I've deleted my KDM config files, located at /usr/share/kde4/config/kdm/kdmrc and reinstalled kdm package, so now I have the very new version of kdmrc file. This does not solve the problem.
When I login to xterm, I can use KDE through launching ksmserver, but launching 'startkde' craghes, as I posted in the first message. So, I think the problem is in startkde script. I have tried to reinstall the script - no effect.
And maybe try if it works for a new user.
New user creation does not make a job. -- Best regards, Pavel Baranchikov 19 марта 2012 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org
Pavel, If you can login at runlevel 3 (text CLI only), or in another window manager, try going to your home directory and renaming the .kde4 directory to something else. Then restart X or switch to runlevel 5 and see if KDE then starts. Any desktop customisations you made will be lost, but are still in the moved directory. Ok, we can co-operate :) I have reinstalled my whole system to openSuSE 12.1 x86_64 with formatting root partition. The error remained. Could you install the glibc package from openSUSE Factory from my project: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/a_jaeger:/my-factory- packages/openSUSE_Factory/ Just update the glibc package, nothing else and tell me whether that one works. Hello.
After upgrading from openSuSE 11.3 to 12.1, I have problems, launching
KDE. KDM appears well, I enter the password and in a few seconds kde crashes. The log of the crash follows.
I tried both openSuSE embeded KDE version and one gained from
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Release:/48/openSUSE_12.1/.
If I start the simple termital (xterm) instead of KDE, I can run
ksmserver , all the KDE staff starts OK.

All of them work correctly. Pulse is turned off. -- Best regards, Pavel Baranchikov, PhD Tuesday 20 March 2012 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org
