Hi,
I have for some time tried to setup the slideshow screensaver to my liking but I faild to do so.
On my laptop I would like to have the slideshow screensaver run indefinitely, if the power cord is connected. The thing is that the screen is turned of after some 15 minutes.
I have tried to change the power settings but I can't figure out how to not turn of the screen at all.
Set the setting to 9999 minutes or similar.

It seems that 360 is the maximum. But I have tried that before and the screen is turned of anyway.

Hm, OK, so it is although somewhere I WAS able to set a figure to greater than 360 - but no matter. Have you tried the other settings like Activity Settings where you can set the computer to be a PC running on AC Power? The time limits no doubt are contained somewhere in a config file and they are the default settings for the "normal" user who would blame openSUSE if the laptop drained its batteries if the owner had no idea on how to manage these settings. Someone may know in which config file these settings are hidden - I don't. Anything on the 'net about this if you do a search? I have tried another account and that works as expected. So there's something wrong with the first account. I have tried various settings, also the Activity settings. I removed evrything with power in the filename from .kde4/share/config, but that didn't change anything. I haven't found anything on this on the net. But that's probably my fault.... /Anders -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org
I´ve got this problem too. But did you say that it only happens on one user session?? In that case this should be related to KDE settings I think. 2012/5/23 Anders Stedtlund <falolaf@gmail.com>:

It seems to be only one user session that is affected. I only have two and the second seems to work alright. The screen didn't turn of in 30 minutes at least. /Anders -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

First: not all configuration happens in ~/.kde{,4}/share/config/ , some resides in ~/.local/ other programs use ~/.config/ . Second: Steps to find the config thats wrong: - create two (2) 'new' users with no prior config in $HOME. - Login to first new user, log out. - Login to 2nd. new user, modify your screen-saver and 'power'- config as you like it, make sure it works, log out. - make a 'diff' ( e.g. diff -EBwr $USER1_HOME $USER2_HOME ) - compare the result to what is found in your normal $HOME . Hope this gives a hint on what's wrong. -- Yamaban.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will see if I can find something. For the moment I use the second user. /Anders -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org
Ok, so I thought that I should share my findings with you. What I have found out ir that the user account is not the problem here. What I have found is that the problem only occurs after a resume from suspen. If I reboot, login and then let the screensaver activate, then it works as expected. If I suspend and then resume, the screen is disabled after some 15 minutes. After some thinking I remembered that I installed laptop-mode-tools some months ago. I uninstalled laptop-mode-tools. Now it seems to work as expected. I have tested for a couple of days now it the screen hasn't been turned off in any cases. I have suspended and resumed. Rebooted and so on. I hope that was the problem. I keep my fingers crossed though, one might never know... /Anders -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org
