Hi, unfortunately this didn't solve the problem :-( The only additional thing I've seen in the kdm.log was (julia is the windows host): Major opcode of failed request: 53 (X_CreatePixmap) Value in failed request: 0x8 Serial number of failed request: 206 Current serial number in output stream: 346 Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display "julia:1.0". Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display "julia:1.0". Xlib: extension "XInputExtension" missing on display "julia:1.0". Failed to get list of devices Xlib: extension "RENDER" missing on display "julia:1.0". X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operati on) ??? If I am trying to connect to my linux server via XDM broadcast, my linux host is displayed as a potential server; I am connectiong to the linux server, seeing for about one second a light blue background (of my linux server) and the connection closes.
Any additional tipps??
I've had a similar problem, and I solved it by switching the GUI-style of KDM, for example to "KDE default". SuSE's default is the Keramik-Style which uses alphablending, and this seems not to be understood by all Xservers. You can change this either by using the KDE Control Center, or by editing /etc/opt/kde3/share/config/kdm/kdmrc Cheers Olaf
