It appears that somehow you do not have wrapping for icon lables/text as you only get one line. I am still on 3.5 and get two lines wrapped, but not a third and see "cut-off" on the end of the second line, ie: xxx.....
Tried changing the font size (for Toolbars) from 9 to 8, but that also does not help.
Other than cramming more text via smaller display size in the same area, I cannot see where the font is causal. Making your icons larger may devote a longer line space for the text below.
It is cutting off the top of the letters. Which I can't see here. I use nvidia proprietary driver, but they are not the same :-) (I know it is obvious, but people do forget that sometimes).
