I can confirm this on KDE4.6 Beta....
- opening Dolphin takes +/-10 to 15 seconds, before the file manager is shown - any file picker dialog takes +/- 10 to 15 seconds to open (eg Save As in KSnapshot) - exiting the last open Dolphin results in a crash as described in the bug report.
I also see the extended startup time but not for the file picker dialogue. But I do not see a crash when exiting.
Did you try some action in the file manager... open a text file, then exit the text editor, and close the file manager. This is when I can reproduce the crash in Dolphin (4.5.85).
Bigger problem (for me) though.... the bottom panel is not showing after the update and a restart. I can add a panel at the top of the desktop, but the bottom one... nothing... it's not there... can't seen to convince KDE to add it again. Haven't tried removing config files and starting "clean" yet.
Fixed by killing plasma-desktop, deleting plasma-desktop-appletsrc, restarting plasma-desktop and reconfiguring my desktop settings. I looked through the old rc file, but can't see anything that seems out of place or different than the working rc file.
