@Per, can you confirm you have the Forum vB data dump now?
Hi Malcolm
I have the vB code (a tarball of the installation), but still no database dump.
Hi Per et al. Thanks for that, will see what TPTB know....
Hypothetically, if we went the discourse way, how long would it take to stand this up and integrate with openSUSE themes, login to existing authentication etc?
I have no idea ... we have little or no Discourse expertise. Discourse is a rails app, getting that up and running is probably not too difficult. Customizing it is something else.
That being said, how long would you expect it to take once get the vB data,
With vB 4.2.2 - provided I have a platform with the right php version, I would not expect that to take more than a couple of hours. It should be no more than restoring the dump and cranking up apache. With a new vB 5.x - it'll no doubt take longer, it depends on how smooth the upgrade process is.
bearing in mind hopefully we can get a newer one as well since it's two months old!
I have already mentioned the need to get a 2nd dump once we're ready to migrate. TBH, my favourite option is to run vB 4.2.2 on Leap42.3 (which has php7.0). Any decision about whether to upgrade vB or move to Discourse can then be left to a later date. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (8.1°C) Member, openSUSE Heroes -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: heroes+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: heroes+owner@opensuse.org
