[opensuse-factory] kernel-update
My 10.1 showed me a kernel-update today. Katalog is 20060802-132038 What's this? Is this a patch from august? Why is it installed only now then? -- Mit freundlichen Grüßen, Marcel Hilzinger Linux New Media AG Süskindstr. 4 D-81929 München Tel: +49 (89) 99 34 11 0 Fax: +49 (89) 99 34 11 99 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

10.1 issues do not belong on the factory list. This list discusses factory - the current development version. Support questions for released versions should be asked on opensuse@opensuse.org or suse-e@suse.com Katalog 20060802-xxxxxx is probably a repository you added to the package manager on that date. Not unlikely it's an unofficial, 3rd party kernel build.. I haven't heard of any new kernel patch for 10.1 lately. Latest official supported kernel for 10.1 is: 2.6.16.21 Martin --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

I know. That's why I put the question. I have kernel 2.6.16.21 for weeks, but I'm sure I installed it with YOU, not with zen-updater. The log today says: 15 Sep 2006 10:32:20 INFO RedCarpetBackend+RCTransactionProgress Transaction step. seqno 10 (Install '[S1:1][package]kernel-default-2.6.16.21-0.21.i586 I just checked on another machine with fresh install and all updates installed. This also showed me the kernel update after I already made the kernel update for 2.6.16.21. Catalogue is the same 20060802. On this second machine I have no additional installation sources configured, only the official updates. -- Mit freundlichen Grüßen, Marcel Hilzinger Linux New Media AG Süskindstr. 4 D-81929 München Tel: +49 (89) 99 34 11 0 Fax: +49 (89) 99 34 11 99 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

the new version is 2.6.16.21-0.21 before it was -0.15 on my machine. so this is a normal kernel update. -- Andreas Vetter Tel: +49 (0)931 888-5890 Fakultaet fuer Physik und Astronomie Fax: +49 (0)931 888-5508 Universitaet Wuerzburg --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

No, its a patch from last week. ;) The catalog name is set from the Date if nothing else is specified, so you added it on August 2nd.
