I do one last night using the KDE4 LiveCD. The only issue I found is that the User creation was showed 2 times, one in the first part of the installation, and the second one after reboot (I had to skip this second user creation). The rest went fine! Regards, Luiz -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Clean install went fine. Only thing, i tryed to add Thunderbird to packages, that make Yast crash. Don't use the standard Search in Software Management to find and add an application which you need - this causes YaST to come up with an (Segmentation) error message (and "crash"). Use the Package Filter or Patterns under the Filter option and then go looking for the package you want - select it and YaST will install it. (Or else use "zypper install <package_name> from the command line as root to install the package.) Well, I did a clean install yesterday, and thus far I've found: 1) Using KDE 3.5, if I attempt to do much of anything with kicker (move applets, access 'resize panel' dialog, etc), X crashes :-( 2) Can't get 'su' to work. When I type 'su' at a console to switch to root, it just hangs. I can do things with sudo, though Anyone else seeing this? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Please file a bugreport in bugzilla.
2) Can't get 'su' to work. When I type 'su' at a console to switch to root, it just hangs. I can do things with sudo, though

I have no "pam_fp line" and I see no update at all.
Symptoms:
- No text consoles. - In gnome, I can "su -" to root, but Yast only works in ncurses mode. I tried "yast2", "yast", "yast --qt", and in all cases I get the ncurses mode yast. - Going the menu route, yast does not start and I see no error. - If I log in as root, in Gnome, I get the graphical Yast.
Making the change suggested in the bug report worked for me on the 2nd issue. I'll create a bug report, if there's not one already, for the 1st issue. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Tried to upgrade from 11.0 and ended up with a grub prompt and couldn't get past the prompt. Anything entered including just a return gave an error that (poor memory here) the image was too large. Tried fresh install and so far the only _very_ annoying bug is the hostname keeps getting reset to the default name of linux every time the network is restarted. -- Ken Schneider SuSe since Version 5.2, June 1998 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

My network was set to dhcp, and I changed to static IP. However, it did not come up. The command "ifconfig" did not list the eth0 port, and after running "rcnetwork restart" it did not appear. Running Yast again, I discovered it was set to "don't start eth0". After I changed that, it is working Ok. About the system name, I had to change it on two different places in the network configuration, two tabs. So network is OK here. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R.
