Hi! The login sound for the Gnome desktop that is enabled at "Startup Applications" [gnome-control-centre] executes this command:-
/usr/bin/canberra-gtk-play --id="desktop-login" --description="GNOME Login"
However there is no file with this id, and executing this command on the terminal simply gives
Failed to play sound: File or data not found
The correct command, that plays a login sound correctly, should be
/usr/bin/canberra-gtk-play --id="login" --description="GNOME Login"
Gah, forgot to reply to this part of the mail. Sorry. The sound naming spec [1] says it's desktop-login and doesn't mention any "login" sound.
