It upset a *lot* of FOSS people when SUSE signed a patent-sharing deal with Microsoft. This allowed it to continue using the very Windows-like KDE desktop without fear of litigation.
People get upset by a lot of things, and sometimes artificially so. The latest outrage seems to be user count estimation via yum. At the same time, Windows users are probably monitored much closer than what could be inferred from yum-related data, and nobody is lamenting that.
