@Raymond: top reports systemd, kthreadd, ksoftirqd, kworker, rcu* etc..
CPU is at < 1% most of the time. I noticed that during the first
reboot after the update baloo was quite active indexing files. It was
the reason I left it on during the night. No activitity any more now.
xsession-errors doesn't seem to contain a lot of errors AFAICS
@ian:
New user has the same problem (hangs). No kded5 errors in the journal
if I log in as this new user.

Last night I updated KDE from 5.3 to 5.4 on my 64-bit Tumbleweed system. After restarting the KDE workspace now hangs at startup with the progress indicator at about 90%.
In the systemd journal I noticed this kde5 entry, but I don't know if it is related to the hang: QT: Session management error: networkIdsList argument is NULL
Anyone know what is going on?
Thanks in advance.
