People are talking about apper here. But are there issues in GNOME and XFCE too? Both have their own tool based on PackageKit, to deal with updates (a gnome-settings-daemon for GNOME and pk-update-icon for XFCE). Knowing which issues are shared would know where to work on fixes for each issue.
Sorry, I say "apper" but I use gnome and xfce. In factory, xfce. I do not know how the application is called in xfce, so I simply call it apper, correct or not.
For the record, PackageKit running and refusing to quit usually happens when it's busy downloading something -- I would guess it does the equivalent of "zypper ref".
Network was not busy when I tried to kill it. If I see it busy I wait, because it is the same operation that yast will have to do if I kill PK. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R.
