If you look at my Signature line it shows (and has shown for many months) what my system is and which DE I am using.
I am also using openSUSE 13.1 which is updated on a daily basis so which "terminal" version it has is immaterial from my point of view - the version is what comes with the Beta version of 13.1. Basil,
The fact that you are using KDE on 13.1, doesn't mean to say that you are also using Konsole as the Terminal. If you look in the menu, then you might see the word konsole underneath Terminal. This is exactly the same as what was already indicated with the Webbrowser, which unfortunately is also represented in the menu, where you have the Webbrowser as an entry, but this could be firefox, chromium, opera, etc.
If it is Konsole, then just go to Tools->Configure Konsole. There you have the first option for the menubar and the second option is for the tabbar. Both can be configured to your liking,

Thank you for this, Raymond. I was trying to find this in 12.3 so that I could use it in 13.1 but, of course, this Tools/Configure Konsole disappears after it is used. But now that you pointed me at this I now have got rid of the Menu and the Tab bar. Thanks again.
