That search is looking for substrings, so you get all flavors of articles and books. If you want e.g. article.cls, do:
sudo zypper in --no-recommends -C 'tex(article.cls)'
It's s 202 new packages here, 2606 with recommends :)
If someone is trying to install some set of packages to "compile(?)" the document, how would they have any clue as to which of the 202 or 2606 packages they want to install? Without some idea of what one is installing it seems pointless to give them 2808 options. At least in MS-Word, it gives you the option to apply a theme to a document to see how it looks, but I think the option to select themes is more or less of the variety set into classes, like basic, professional, etc. Even classes like floral, or colorful, etc, might be helpful. There's also some options where you can see a preview, but to work with the theme or doctype, it does an install-on-demand from the initial network install location. But for someone who doesn't already know what they want, how could they pick from over 2000 choices?
I installed LyX so long ago that I don't remember, but the installation of LyX should have recommended to install the 2606 packages. Look, trying on a 15.2 machine that doesn't have it installed: Isengard:~ # zypper install --dry-run lyx Retrieving repository 'Packman Repository' metadata .................................................[done] ... Yes, it would be nice to see somewhere how each document type looks like. It is possible to try them, though, but it is involved, takes time. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. R.
