All,
I thought packagekit was removed from 12.1?
I have run zypper dup twice in the last 2 days. Both times it claimed packagekit had locks in place and I needed to wait.
With 11.4 I certainly had similar things happen on rare occasion, but 2 out of 2 seems excessive.

Actually on factory 12.2 the only non removable packagekit related is libpackagekit-glib2-14
needed by gnome-settings-daemon
All the other can be removed
Yeah I just use zypper to inform me about updates/upgrades
PackageKit is just a dbus service that talks to ZYpp Blame your YaST team, because we haven't had time to rewrite the glue between PackageKit and ZYpp and the current code is a mess or because we haven't finished making ZYpp lock-free for some operations.
