Given the reams of posts about the status of 12.2 and changing the
release cycle/development model, it can be a bit hard to properly
track these kind of notices.
Is there any possibility of setting up a separate opensuse-tumbleweed
mailing list for tumbleweed users who just want to follow any critical
issues?

Yeah, the kde repo where this is being pulled from is messed up right now, the developers have been notified, so hopefully they will fix it soon and it will propagate to tumbleweed.
