Exactly, that will be the conclusion of any sane person that has suffered the perils of "live updates"..
It does not matter if it is similar to $INSERT_YOUR_HATED_OS_HERE , the only things that matter is :
a) It works or not b) makes the issues derived from live updates go away. c) End of list.
A "Live Upgrade" (the one used in the pre-Solaris 11 days) is actually a pretty good solution to this kind of problem, with reduced downtime while applying updates and the ability to go back to the old system.
