We should try to migrate away from kmozillahelper in favor of using the builtin xdg-desktop-portal integration. For that, we need to make sure that on Plasma it uses xdg-desktop-portal instead of GTK file dialogs out of the box. Currently this needs to be done manually by setting widget.use-xdg-desktop-portal.file-picker=1 widget.use-xdg-desktop-portal.mime-handler=1 I'm not sure about widget.use-xdg-desktop-portal.open-uri. On Firefox, the `browser.gnome-search-provider.enabled` parameter is set to true, while "Firefox" is listed as an enabled search provider on GNOME (Settings -> Search). The "GNOME shell integration" extension is also enabled, although I'm not sure it is required. Despite my premises, Firefox simply does not appear as a search provider when trying to search through GNOME. I've tried searching for solutions or at least for people with the same issue and found out this article from a Fedora: https://mastransky.wordpress.com/2023/10/13/q3-firefox-linux-update/ although I have no idea how to correctly follow the steps he described. The logs say gnome-shell[2546]: Received error from D-Bus search provider firefox.desktop: Gio.DBusError: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.mozilla.Firefox.SearchProvider was not provided by any .service files I think we have to update our desktop-file and install the service-file, too.
