Other browsers like Brave or Opera worked just fine, leading me to suspect Firefox. I worked with the FF team to run various tests and their eventual resolution is "wontfix" because the problem actually seems to be some packaging issue with FFMPEG and OPeH264...perhaps a version mismatch. One of the FF developers said "To fix the problem, you need to install the exact same version of https://software.opensuse.org/package/libopenh264-6 that was used to build OpenSuse's ffmpeg-5." The mozilla bug link above gives the full story. I have been unable to get Firefox to play video content, no matter what combination of FFMPEG and Openh264 I've tried, but this area isn't my strength. The FF people recommended that I open a bug with Tumbleweed, and perhaps together, the bug can be resolved. Launching applications like "glxinfo" or "xlsclients" would fail with the error message `Maximum number of clients reached: unable to open display ":0"`. In searching for the error message I came across https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/250920/debugging-maximum-number-of…. Using the method described there to get the application using up the most x client connections, I found that kmozillahelper was using up more than 170 of them. Closing Firefox and one `killall kmozillahelper` later I could reliably start applications again. While my immediate problem is gone, it seems that there seems to be a leak of kmozillahelper process instances when restoring a KDE session after having logged out with an open Firefox. I.e., on third login after the killall, a `ps aux | grep kmozillahelper` will produce the following: marix 5109 0.0 0.1 413872 44192 ? Sl 11:10 0:00 /usr/lib/mozilla/kmozillahelper Stopping Firefox will kill the process that does not have a -session argument. However, if I logout without closing Firefox first, the next login will show four kmozillahelper processes of which three have a with -session. The two already existing in the current session, and a third one with a new sessionid. As the session-id-less process instance is properly cleaned up if Firefox is closed during a session, the problem can be worked around by closing Firefox before logging out. I am using packman packages to be able to play the restricted formats for years and every thing worked well until recently. After last updates of packages my Firefox does not produce any sound when I am opening web content with movies or sounds. Google Chrome or Falcon plus Clementine and many other software on the same computer are working well with same content or by playing music. I have checked in Internet all possible ideas to solve this problem of Firefox and try them but no luck so far. Sometimes refreshing the webpage after a few minutes can help, but not always. The problem happen randomly and doesn't seem to only affect a particular website. I have created a new Firefox profile and the issue persists.
