[opensuse-buildservice] Packages for deb distros
First, thanks all who helped make this build service work! I managed to get one of my packages to build within a few hours, though from having a functional src.rpm to start with. Had to give up when pages took 2min to load though (time for bed anwyay...). When I added the latest buntu/debian distros the package status comes up as excluded. I guess they need more work, but is there soe tutorial as well for making .deb? Thanks,

take a look into some real world examples for "hybrid packages". like: openSUSE:Tools:Devel/{build-svn,osc-svn,qemu-svn} Debian needs a .dsc file to build a .deb package. Also, in order to be compliant to all .deb based distros, source files need to be .tar.gz *AND NOT* .tar.bz2 in order to be accepted. There is other nice things you will find out when packaging hybrid packages - lots of. Which pages took 2min too load ? Is anyone else experience this ?

It miss debian build descriptions, the .dsc file and friends. A little wiki page is here http://en.opensuse.org/Build_Service/Deb_builds But in general any description out there how to create debian build descriptions might be a good start. bye adrian -- Adrian Schroeter SUSE Linux Products GmbH email: adrian@suse.de -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org

All of the build service web UI, and it lasted for >30min about afternoon in Europe so I figured I hit a busy time. It's also possible the bottleneck was between me and Europe.

Ah thanks, that was the missing info to get me started. At first read somewhat disappointing - I refuse to dumb things down to suit the least common denominator for distros failing to keep up with the times, so I hope there is a way round.
