http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=960478 Bug ID: 960478 Summary: krunner shows inexisting VT sessions in parallel of the existing ones Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 42.1 Hardware: 64bit OS: openSUSE 42.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE Workspace (Plasma) Assignee: opensuse-kde-bugs@opensuse.org Reporter: stakanov@freenet.de QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 660618 --> http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/attachment.cgi?id=660618&action=edit krunner showing non existing VT sessions in parallel to existing ones Opens a new session with the applet from desktop. You will find that krunner opens as expected but that for every VT session opened there is a "ghost session" showing the very same VT as unused. When you logout from several users these ghosts persist up to a complete reboot. VT sessions once closed should be closed without residual VTs showing up. VT sessions open should not be accompanied by a VT session ghost telling unused session. I attach a screen-shot to make the thing clearer. Repeatable always. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

But it only seems to happen with sddm as display manager. Can you try something else, kdm or xdm e.g.? You might have to install other ones (xdm should be installed by default) and can set it in /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager afterwards (the DISPLAYMANAGER variable). If it's indeed just a problem with sddm, it might be a good idea to report it upstream at https://github.com/sddm/sddm/issues ... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Yes, and I repeat: (In reply to Wolfgang Bauer from comment #1)
I can confirm this here, on 13.2 even. But it only seems to happen with sddm as display manager.

It didn't bother me enough to report it yet, but feel free to do it. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=960478 http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=960478#c5 --- Comment #5 from Stakanov Schufter <stakanov@freenet.de> --- Forgive me that I will probably never report upstream to kernel, sddm or systemd. The reason for this is, that I do not have the professionalism in IT and programming, that the people in these lists deem "normal". I once did a report to mesa ... and they assigned the bug after two month of silence to me? Useless to say that I did simply close it after that, as I cannot solve bugs. I simply do not have the technical capacity. So, I will just, every edition of Leap, update the bug if it exists still. In the hope I will "bother" you ;-) (some pun intended, but benevolent, I know you people have plenty of other things to do). I found that given the complexity of Linux today, as a "normal" user, you can file still bug reports to your distribution, in 70% of the cases they will receive no answer and in the ones you get answer you have(!) to rely on the person the bug is assigned to, to guide you through the process further. Now upstream projects have little human resources. So forgive me updating the bug for every version of Leap, as long as it is valid, it avoids it to be closed, because "the version is not supported any more" ore similar by some "email-bot". Really no negativity in all that. Thank you all sincerely for you effort in general. We users, AFAIK, do not take(!) it for granted. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I am referring here to x-server sessions as TW with Wayland and KDE is unusable to me due to several(!) showstoppers. So you have the issue life and kicking.
