[Bug 975863] New: Can't edit sddm.conf because changes are saved in Chinese(?) characters.
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=975863 Bug ID: 975863 Summary: Can't edit sddm.conf because changes are saved in Chinese(?) characters. Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 42.1 Hardware: x86 OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem Assignee: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: wodenhof@daad-alumni.de QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 673248 --> http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/attachment.cgi?id=673248&action=edit sddm.conf, edited, now with Chinese(?) characters I want to add some "HideUsers" to sddm.conf. So I opened sddm.conf both with kate and with kwrite as root, input the users I want hidden and save the file. Everything is legible. But cat /etc/sddm.conf shows the desaster already. I checked, the coding(?) is set to UTF8 in either editor. The expected effect of hiding unwanted users doesn't work. If you need more information, please ask. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=975863 http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=975863#c1 --- Comment #1 from Matthias Schünemann <wodenhof@daad-alumni.de> --- I tried editing / adding hide users under Windows with Winword and I tried also the simple Windows editor. Same result. I even opened a new file and typed the whole contents of sddm.conf again. Same result. I ran dos2unix on those files. Still same results. Might this be sddm itself not the sddm.conf or what could possibly cause this? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
