[Bug 1023198] New: Leap 42.2 bails out with signal 11 during initial installation
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1023198 Bug ID: 1023198 Summary: Leap 42.2 bails out with signal 11 during initial installation Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 42.2 Hardware: x86-64 OS: openSUSE 42.2 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation Assignee: yast2-maintainers@suse.de Reporter: magnus@linuxtag.org QA Contact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- I downloaded the installation Leap 42.2 ISO from https://software.opensuse.org/422/en and verified its SHA 256 checksum: $ ls -l insgesamt 4281368 -rw-r--r-- 1 magnus magnus 4384096256 Feb 2 00:44 openSUSE-Leap-42.2-DVD-x86_64.iso -rw-r--r-- 1 magnus magnus 630 Feb 2 00:44 openSUSE-Leap-42.2-DVD-x86_64.iso.sha256 $ sha256sum -c openSUSE-Leap-42.2-DVD-x86_64.iso.sha256 openSUSE-Leap-42.2-DVD-x86_64.iso: OK I wrote the image to a verified and working USB stick with 32 GByte capacity with # dd if=openSUSE-Leap-42.2-DVD-x86_64.iso of=/dev/sdb When booting this image on either a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon, 3rd gen or a Lenovo Thinkpad T460p (bought 2016), the slash screen pops up. Selecting the boot Linux item to start the live CD the kernel boots, but is interrupted by a "Signal 11" message on the lower part of the screen. Please advise how to further debug this issue. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1023198 http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1023198#c1 Anika Kehrer <kehrer@b1-systems.de> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |kehrer@b1-systems.de --- Comment #1 from Anika Kehrer <kehrer@b1-systems.de> --- Addition: Every of the following boot options resulted in signal 11: - Rescue System - Check Installation Media - Boot Linux System It happened as well with SLES12SP2. Only difference was that openSUSE broke out into signal 11 more quickly (green progression lines about 1/3 done), whereas SLES only at the end (green progression line almost ready). Just in case this is of relevance. We know from others that this whole problem doesn't occur with the net install image. But I haven't tested this yet. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
