Absence of choosen hostname in the /etc/hosts can cause software delays. However, in the present this state of affairs can only be corrected by manual editing of the /etc/hosts file.
Could we develop the request a little bit more? There were an option to assign the hostname a Loopback IP which was requested to be removed. So there is no 127.0.0.2 entry anymore with the static hostname. Related to https://trello.com/c/so0amSNp/342-sle-15-sp1-yast2-network-clarify-hostname-...
It would be better if the hostname adds to the /etc/hosts file automatically during installation.
In an static configuration the host alias for the IP is proposed using the current hostname. So, are u proposing to assign the current static hostname to the loopback ip without the checkbox? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Network configuration schemes can be different, but presence of hostname in the /etc/hosts file can be required even without static network scheme. Even with dynamic network scheme software can trying to get access to machine by its hostname. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

For all the reasons discussed in the other bugs. Software that runs into delays due to trying to resolving the hostname via DNS most likely is misguided and needs to be fixed. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
